The importance of self-care

When you provide care and support for a family member, you will find that you can give good care over the long term only if you care for yourself as well. As such, self care is one of the most important things that family caregivers can do, both for themselves and for those for whom they provide care. Our ability to provide care and support, and to look after our family and friends gets stronger when we ourselves are strong and in good health on many levels:
